BELLVIEW, Fla. -- A Bellview woman has been charged in the death of her 18-month-old daughter after the girl was found dead in a trash can.
The child's mother, 21-year-old Christian Woods, told Escambia County deputies Monday that the girl had gone missing. The mother said she had gone to Mobile, Ala., for the weekend, leaving the girl, her twin sister and a 2-year-old boy home alone. Authorities say Woods left six containers of Jell-O for the children to eat. There was no water or electricity in the home.
Deputies say Woods eventually acknowledged putting the girl in the trash can after finding her dead.
Woods was charged with manslaughter and two counts of child abuse. She was being held without bail.
The two surviving children were taken by the Florida Department of Children and Families.

I feel awful for everyone involved in this tragedy, even for the mother, as she is just a baby herself, and the chances are that she was raised in an environment where the lines of right and wrong intersected at many levels. Parents have got to start focusing the hell up and raising their children, or the cycles of tragedies like this will never end. It's so easy for us to say "Well, she is 21, she should have known better", but when you are not shown any better, treated any better, or cared for properly, or loved, you only know what you know. I guess that's why I enjoy following, @rahsheen, @mochadad, and @mtony75 so much, because they give me some hope that there are men out their doing what needs to be done so things like this will not happen with the next generation.
