Let me wrap my head around this whole “Climategate” thing.

A bunch of people who, quite frankly, suck at math and science and disparage such at every turn because it doesn’t cowtow to their twisted reading of a several-thousand-year-old set of books (which also puts reading comprehension out of their grasp), stole some e-mails from scientists and waved them around like a bloody shirt, saying that said e-mails prove that global warming doesn’t exist and that the world’s scientists were somehow involved in some sort of global X-FILESesque conspiracy to defraud us all into cleaning our planet while somehow making beaucoup bucks in the process.

They came up with this wonderful theory, in spite of being on the wrong side of just about every political nitpick over the last hundred years or so, in spite of being on the wrong side of the actual scientific data, in spite of being monumental assholes for stealing someone else’s half-finished work and parading it around like some kind of victory flag, even though most of the data is over the heads of people who are scientifically inclined - and I’m supposed to take their word for it that THIS TIME, after everything that has transpired in recent history - hell, scratch that, for the last 150 years, since idiots like these started nursing a never-ending grudge because the rest of the freaking country wouldn’t let them shackle people who looked different up in chains, which has culminated into a full-blown inferiority complex over ANYONE possibly being smarter than they - after all of this idiocy, I’m supposed to just take their word for it that THIS TIME, they’re somehow right?

I’m sorry, but fuck that noise.

I don’t even need to read the damned e-mails, and I know that whoever is waving them around and yowling about global conspiracies and climategate and scientists taking advantage of us poor benighted common folk - I know that they’re full of shit.  The same way that they’ve always been full of shit.

So, wingnuts, take your bloody stolen e-mails and cram them up your SUV’s tailpipe.  You’ve used up any possible goodwill years ago, when you decided that being an argumentative asshole who always has to be right was more important than doing the right thing.

Get.  Bent.

I know one thing, though: I’ll be damned if I let stand in my spheres of influence, the erasure, violence, and willful intolerance, that comes from being close-minded and ignorant about the interconnectedness of the basics of the human condition. We’re all fighting against the darker forces of fear and complacency that are fed to us everyday. To care isn’t easy, but when you do, and seek to understand, even if you don’t agree, everything becomes easier.

With great sadness we share that Jim Rohn, our mentor and friend, left us December 5, 2009 for a better place.

Over the past 18 months, in his battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis, Jim assured us with a smile that all is good, that he would fight until the last breath, yet he had no fear as to what would be next. Jim’s faith was as much a part of his life as his desire to inspire and challenge us all to be the best we could be and to live our dreams.

Jim’s courage in his final months and days were a testament to his message that we should all fight the good fight. He never gave up and never gave in.
